Protest of Israel's Illegal Occupation of Palestine
When: Wednesday, October 21, 2009
Time: 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: Suspension bridges (Woodhead, Dunlavy, Mandell,
Graustark, Montrose not Hazard) on Hwy. 59 between Shepherd
and Montrose in Houston
The Houston Coalition for Justice and Peace in Palestine (HCJPP)
will help coordinate a demonstration at the Suspension
bridges (Woodhead, Dunlavy, Mandell, Graustark, Montrose not
Hazard) on Hwy. 59 between Shepherd and Montrose, to show
solidarity with Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip and
West Bank who are living under an illegal Israeli
Occupation.
We believe that any occupation is morally wrong and must be
opposed. The takeover of a land, the denial of equal rights
to its inhabitants, and their forcible
eviction, are all fundamentally unacceptable and must be
rejected. It is also our conviction that punitive actions
carried out by the state of Israel against native
Palestinians over the years, such as the bombing of civilian
population centers, cannot be justified under any
circumstances.
Such actions are in direct violation of international laws
and conventions set out after World War II, and fall under
the jurisdiction of the International Criminal
Court. It is vitally important for Americans to understand
and appreciate how central the Occupation is to the
conflict, and what the ’only democracy in the
Middle East’ has been perpetrating upon the Palestinians –
daily, for more than four decades now.

Time: 4 - 6 pm
Location: Caterpillar Dealership in Houston located at
290 @ Pinemont
Signs will be provided but you may bring your own if you
like.
The company which best exemplifies the interest of US
corporations in the Occupation and the complete refusal to
address human rights concerns in the region is Caterpillar.
The most destructive weapon of the Occupation may not be an
F-16 or helicopter gunship, but rather, an armor plated D-9
or D-11 bulldozer. These are the machines that have
demolished thousands of homes, uprooted countless olive
trees, and carved gaping holes in roads, making them
impassable. Even when used in Israel’s colonial intrusions
on the land through construction of
illegal housing or bypass roads, CAT equipment is being used
daily in the commission of war crimes and violations of
human rights.
Caterpillar provides the machinery of occupation and
apartheid - their equipment is used to demolish Palestinian
homes and agricultural land and to build illegal Jewish-only
settlements and the apartheid wall. Take action to hold CAT
accountable for these crimes in Israel/Palestine.
